The walking tour then curved around through some neighborhood looking streets and came upon a great stairwell with ornate metal work. I actually went back the next day to try to get a better shot.
Just back down that street and barely around the corner is a beautiful café – Café Sperl. We had sachertorte, cheese torte and mohnstrudel and fancy coffees there the next day. But on this evening around 5:30, there was a beautiful elderly couple stepping out from the front door and walking arm in arm across the street. They made me smile.
The last stop on the walk was this darling little entrance to what is still a Vienna Playhouse, with a statue of the Pagano family from the Magic Flute on top of the elaborately decorated entrance into the courtyard.
In case you were keeping track, the two-hour tour of Vienna took me about 4 hours, but I loved it.
