50!

Pat passed 50 yesterday, but not without some erratic heart palpitations. No, really erratic. That's just way more confusion than any of us needed to experience. He spent 24 hours in a french public hospital admitted through ER. Needless to say, it was really pretty anxiety provoking, but we muddled through it. It seems like it's all settled down now, literally, so we went back to life as usual.

Unfortunately with a rocky start to the week, we were moving a little slower than normal. By Friday I was down with my annual nearly bronchitis bout, and though we had best intentions for a rousing Sat. night, we were lucky to be able to walk to the local tagine and cous cous mecca. The meal was divine, despite both of us still moving slowly. Pat because he still isn't sure what hit him, and me because of that cold. For his actual birthday Pat slept in a little, then took a rousing bike ride by himself and for the afternoon chose to drive around in the little villages near Versaille and seek out some music. I was pretty sick of the house, and the drive and afternoon were perfect. We found a free jazz concert happening in a remote little enclave, situated in a national forest, and the concert venue was in the basement of an Eiffel Tower era house created from an iron kit! Needless to say it was a little "Mystery Hole" for me, but as it turned out the music was good, and the day was beautiful.

We finished the day with a lovely dinner in a frenchy-type touristy restaurant with really good food, in downtown Versaille. Not exactly dinner at the palace, but certainly excellent none-the-less.
Here are some photos from the day:
