More about Beer, this time in France

Sunday afternoon was much anticipated by my darling hoosband, after he learned that less than 10 km away there was going to be a beer festival... Those who know Pat, know that he loves his IPA, and he has been searching for it since we came here. Alas, as we know now, it is definitely a wholly american product, and is not going to be found in France, they don't like anything that strong. Pat met a french guy who explained all of this to him, in english no less, and then took Pat to a British guy who was selling a stout that Pat really likes. We only bought 5 bottles, but that is because it was all that they had left!!

Here are some scenes from the event. By the way, it is too bad that the cheese guy is so blurry, maybe I had too many beers... but this guy was a hoot, and the cheese he is slicing is called Comte - with an accent over the e. It is like a cross between a really old cheddar and a really mellow parmesian. We love it. If you can find it -- buy it.

The beauty of this fete is that you pay €5 to get in, and you get to taste about 3 oz. of each beer! Did I mention it was on the grounds of the city hall? It was beer lover's heaven. Of course, I had to drive home. What a great Sunday afternoon.
